Rehabilitation Services
The
Woodlands offer intense comprehensive physical, occupational and
speech therapy services to assist patients in recovering physical and
speech language skills.
Physical Therapy
Patients undergo an assessment for
motor function limitations and are placed in a program to maximize
their function. Physical therapy includes:

Transfer training
● Gait training
● Balance re-education
● Home assessment
● Screening of residents for
functional decline/need for
exercise programs
Occupational Therapy
With the use adaptive equipment and or adaptive techniques we educate
and train and individual and family members to perform functions of
daily living:
● Bathing and dressing techniques
● Using a walker or a cane in the
kitchen, bathroom and or bedroom
● Home management skills (i.e.
money management, meal
preparation and cleanup and
general household tasks)

Speech Therapy
Speech-language pathology is a health-related specialty concerned with
recovering voice speech-language skills and swallowing skills after a
stroke or head injury.
The Woodlands provides speech-language services
to help with a variety of disorders including:
Stuttering - We can help you learn to cope with the disorder
and increase fluency
Voice Disorders - We assist you in developing proper control of
the vocal and respiratory system
Aphasia - As a result of stroke or head injury. We'll help you
relearn language and speech skills
Swallowing Problems - Resulting from brain injury or
degenerative diseases. We will help you identify specific problems and
explain techniques that may assist you to make eating and swallowing
easier and more pleasant.
